Las Vegas Document Final Images: Arts District

This is the final project for my Las Vegas Document Prime class. I took these photos on multiple sojourns to the Arts District. Many of the images are HDR-multiple exposures merged to more closely replicate what the eye sees, and in some cases go beyond and get a bit "grungy."

Fremont Street-Final trip

Dec. 8, 2011

Headed out for the last trip to Fremont Street. I'm starting to feel like I almost know this place... almost. Even though I grew up in this town, I rarely go into the downtown area anymore. As I've gone into these older areas of town this last year I've started to feel more invested in them. I'm glad that Zappos is coming to town, and I really hope they can help to revitalize this old and tired part of our town, it could certainly use some new blood.

Arts District, Revisited

Nov. 17, 2011

Headed back to the Arts District. My husband asked why we photograph places more than once, I mean, been there done that, right? The thing is, there's always something new to see, a fresh way to see a place that I've been to many times before...

The Artifice Bar....

Couldn't resist the one-armed bandit!

Met a fellow native of Las Vegas who drove trucks with his dad and worked on them since he was a kid. He refurbishes trucks and also little delicacies like this John Deere tractor.

Had breakfast at Il Fornaio inside New York New York. Lousy service, good food. Headed out from there to take some shots inside the hotel and out to surrounding area

Caesar's Palace

Nov. 3, 2011

This time we headed to Caesar's Palace territory, after a pricey but delicious breakfast at Serendipity's. I still like Caesar's more than a lot of the new Hotels, it seems to have a little more class, and always a lot of photo ops.

Fremont Street - People

Oct. 27, 2011

After breakfast at Hash House a Go Go at the Union Plaza, we set out to photograph people on Fremont St. As usual, there was no shortage of interesting, or in some cases, sad scenes.
