The Winery

Winery in Loomis, California

Went to a winery on the way home from the Apple Fest in California-on the way back to Reno. The land is pretty parched right now, looks like CA could really use some rain..

Making money with your iPhone

There are some sites out there where you can experiment with selling your iPhone images. Here's one of them: http://foap.com/

I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, I guess there's some potential to make a little money, on the other hand you're selling your photos for a pittance, and the market is flooded with cheap stock photography. Also, with sites like iStockphoto.com and others like it, at the very least you need a model release for photos of people.

Any thoughts on this?

Chinatown

Some shots I took while cruising through Chinatown. These were all edited in Snapseed for basic adjustments, then added frames and a grunge effect.

Still Life Light Paintings

These images were created in the style of the Impressionists: Cezanne and Gauguin in particular. They had such an intuitive understanding of composition and color, and I found it challenging to try and emulate their style. In these images I was shooting for a more "painterly" style of photography.

I used a flashlight in a dark room, taking multiple shots of different areas and layering them in Photoshop. I really like the effect of the light painting; it gives a more natural feeling to the light-but at the same time is unpredictable and difficult to reproduce exactly.
